Woods Used:

 

- The dark brown wood in this piece is Black Walnut.  Black Walnut is commonly found in the Eastern United States as well as the Western Coasts. Its heartwood can range from a lighter pale brown to a dark chocolate brown with darker brown streaks. Color is usually a dark brown, almost black but can sometimes have a grey, purple, or reddish cast.  It is one of the more saught after domestic woods as it grows slowly and in smaller quantites compared to other domestic woods.

 

- The lighter brown parts of this board are Cherry. More specifically, Pennsylvania Cherry.  Cherry, also known as American Cherry, refers to the “common cherry tree” found in the eastern united states.  The cherry that grows in Pennsylvania is regarded as some of the best in the world and displays some of the best figure and rich color. Its Heartwood is commonly a light pinkish brown when freshly cut although it can range from a light tan to dark brown, eventually darkening with time and upon exposure to light.

    This listing is for a Chess Board made from various Domestic woods. It is Finished with multiple coats polyurethane to really pull the natural shine of the wood.  The board also inclues rubber feet to prevent the board sliding durring play.  

    These make the perfect choice for birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, housewarming gifts, Mother’s/Father’s Day, retirement gifts and/or those that just love the game of chess.
