Teak, Wenge and Purple Heart
- The golden brown stripes are made from Genuine Teak. This beautiful wood is Native to southern Asia and is Widely grown on plantations throughout tropical regions of Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Despite its widespread cultivation on plantations worldwide, Teak has become very expensive due to its slow growing nature and after the majority of old growth trees were cut down over the past few decades. It is perhaps one of the most expensive lumbers on the market although its beautiful color and figure add a very elegant look to any piece.
- The contrasting and eye catching purple stripes in this piece are made from Purpleheart. Purpleheart ranges from Sao Paulo in Brazil to Trinidad and Panama. When freshly cut the heartwood of Purpleheart is a dull grayish/purplish brown. Upon exposure to sunlight the wood becomes a deeper eggplant purple.
- The Beautiful dark black stripes are made from Wenge. Wenge is a dense wood from equatorial West Africa that has good working properties. It has been relatively difficult to obtain over the last 10 years due to the internal conflict in Africa. It has fine dark lines with narrow brown streaks that give it a fine level of character not found in similar woods like ebony.
