Purple Heart & Cherry
Woods Used:
- The purple parts of this piece are Purple Heart. Purpleheart is an exotic wood that ranges from Sao Paulo in Brazil to Trinidad and Panama. When freshly cut the heartwood of Purpleheart is a dull grayish/purplish brown. Upon exposure to sunlight the wood becomes a deeper eggplant purple. Its color adds a unique touch that is hard to find naturally in other woods.
- The lighter brown parts of this board are Cherry. More specifically, Pennsylvania Cherry. Cherry, also known as American Cherry, refers to the “common cherry tree” found in the eastern united states. The cherry that grows in Pennsylvania is regarded as some of the best in the world and displays some of the best figure and rich color. Its Heartwood is commonly a light pinkish brown when freshly cut although it can range from a light tan to dark brown, eventually darkening with time and upon exposure to light.

All of the products at Petyk Customs are individually hand-crafted, one-of-a-kind creations, and not factory manufactured. As a result, products will have subtle variations from one piece to the next, caused by the natural variations in the wood as well as the hand crafting.
As the piece ages the colors will darken slightly. This is simply due to oxidation in the wood as it ages and can be remedied by refinishing the piece(s).
